Can I apply for funding from the Hays Travel Foundation?

To apply for a grant you must be a registered charity. The Hays Travel Foundation evaluates applications based on two main criteria: (1) Does your project help young people (up to 25 years) in areas such as education, prevention of poverty, health, arts, culture, or sports? (2) Does your organization operate or have an impact in an area with a Hays Travel branch? For more details, visit our branch locator.

When will I know if my application was successful?

You should receive a letter within a week after the meeting informing you of the trustees' decision. In some cases, applications may be deferred for further information.

Can I apply again if my application was successful?

Yes, applications from organizations that have previously been granted funds are welcomed. However, each application is assessed individually, and the Board will ensure that funds are used to support a range of causes.

Can I apply again if my application was not successful?

If you are unsuccessful, it’s unlikely that reapplying for the same project will result in funding. However, we welcome applications for different projects.

How will I receive the funding?

If your application is successful, the Hays Travel Foundation team will contact you to request your bank details. The payment will be made via bank transfer and should reach you within 48 hours.

What is expected of successful applicants?

Successful applicants must submit 6 and 12-month progress reports. These reports should outline how the funding has helped achieve the proposed outcome. A report template will be provided. Applicants are also encouraged to share press releases and tag the Hays Travel Foundation on social media.

When is the next meeting?

The next meeting is scheduled for 7th April 2025. Applications received before this date will be reviewed at this meeting, though depending on the volume of applications, this may be deferred to a later date.

Is there a limit to how much funding I can apply for?

While there is no strict limit to the amount you can apply for, the Hays Travel Foundation’s budget dictates that grants typically range from £2,000 to £15,000. The average grant in the past year was around £3,500.

What can I apply for funding for?

Funding is available for specific projects that will impact young people’s lives positively. Projects must have clear expected outputs and outcomes. Staff salaries or core operating costs are unlikely to be funded unless they are integral to the project.
