About this tour

Journey from China to Japan, and back again, on this Far Eastern expedition. This holiday brings together all the joy of an ocean cruise on board the spectacular Royal Caribbean Spectrum of the Seas, with the exciting exploration of a Wendy Wu Tours’ itinerary. On this one, you'll experience the history and culture of these two ancient nations whilst exploring their biggest treasures, from the mighty Great Wall and Terracotta Warriors to Kyoto’s timeless temples and the bright lights of Tokyo.

Tour Itinerary

Days 1-3: UK - Beijing

Today you will fly overnight to Beijing, where you will spend the next three nights. Explore China’s historical capital, walking through Tiananmen Square and into the sprawling magnificence of the Forbidden City. Later, enjoy a feast of traditional Peking duck.
Day 4: The Great Wall

Rise early to travel to the Juyongguan Pass for a walk on the Great Wall of China. After free time on the Great Wall, visit the Ming Tombs before taking your seat for a thrilling acrobatic show this evening.
Day 5: Beijing - Pingyao

Ride the bullet train to Pingyao, a UNESCO-listed ancient town with a 2,000-year history. Explore the ancient City Walls and wander through the historic cobbled streets.
Day 6: Pingyao - Xian

Enjoy a morning at leisure before taking the bullet train to Xian. Optional: Hands-on noodle-making class
Day 7: Xian

Spend the morning viewing the enigmatic ranks of the life-size Terracotta Warriors. In the afternoon, explore the 14th-century city walls that enclose Xian’s old town and end the day with a dumpling banquet watching a Tang Dynasty show.
Days 8-9: Xian - Chengdu

Travel by bullet train to Chengdu where you’ll dine on Sichuan hotpot and watch a face changing show. The next day, visit the Panda Conservation Centre to see these adorable bears!
Day 10: Chengdu - Shanghai

Fly to Shanghai. In the evening, enjoy a cruise on the Huangpu River, admiring the city’s skyline.
Day 11: Shanghai

After breakfast, you’ll head to the Baoshan port to board your Royal Caribbean Cruise.
Day 12: At Sea

Relax and enjoy the amenities onboard as you sail across the East China Sea towards Japan.
Day 13: Kobe

Enjoy a day docked in Kobe, renowned for its scenic harbour and delicious Kobe beef.
Day 14: Kyoto

Today you will be docked in Kyoto, Japan’s former capital for 1,000 years. It is a treasure trove of culture and history and is bursting with temples, geisha and gardens.
Day 15: Tokyo

Today you will be docked in Tokyo, Japan’s capital since 1868 and one of the world’s largest cities.
Days 16-17: At Sea

Relax and enjoy the amenities onboard.
Days 18-20: Shanghai - UK

Depart your cruise in Shanghai. Spend a day soaking up the best of Shanghai, including the peaceful Yu Garden and colonial architecture of The Bund. Then, fly home to the UK.
