Route 66 – Classic Americana

Tour Itinerary

• Days 1-2: UK - Chicago

  Fly from the UK and start your journey in the vibrant city of Chicago. See the official Route 66 sign, the pretty lakefront and Navy Pier and the shops and stunning architecture along the Magnificent Mile.

• Day 3: Chicago - Springfield, Illinois

  Today you’ll visit Joliet, which was on the original Route 66 path and the Illinois Route 66 Hall of Fame and iconic Route 66 mural in Pontiac. Then, continue to Springfield, former home of Abraham Lincoln.

• Day 4: Springfield - St. Louis

  Visit Lincoln Home National Historic Site, and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. Continue to St. Louis, the largest city along Route 66, home to the Gateway Arch.

• Day 5: St. Louis - Springfield, Missouri

  Travel through the Ozark Mountains, the second oldest mountains in the world to Springfield. During your journey, stop at Meramec Caverns in Stanton, an extensive set of natural limestone caves.

• Day 6: Springfield - Oklahoma City

  Drive along the Oklahoma section of Route 66 and see the wonderous 20-foot-tall cement Blue Whale in Catoosa, before arriving in Oklahoma City.

• Day 7: Oklahoma City - Amarillo

  Continue to Amarillo, stopping at Lucille’s Historic Gas Station, the Route 66 Museum in Clinton and the interesting National Route 66 Museum. In Amarillo make sure to drive down Amarillo Boulevard to see its 1950’s buildings.

• Day 8: Amarillo - Albuquerque

  Make a stop at Cadillac Ranch, and continue to Adrian, the official midway point of Route 66. In Albuquerque, explore its Historic Old Town for a taste of New Mexico’s Spanish colonial past.

• Day 9: Albuquerque - Holbrook

  Travel into Arizona to the Petrified Forest National Park, the only park in the National Park System containing a section of Historic Route 66.

• Days 10-11: Holbrook - Williams

  Continue to Williams and its six blocks of shops and historic buildings packed full of Route 66 memorabilia. The following day, visit Grand Canyon National Park, a natural wonder that must be seen to be believed.

• Days 12-13: Williams - Las Vegas

  Travel to the Hoover Dam, an engineering masterpiece and then on to the neon lights and world-class entertainment in Las Vegas.

• Days 14-15: Las Vegas - Santa Monica

  The final leg of your journey takes you to the official end of Route 66 to Santa Monica which lies on the Pacific Ocean.

• Day 16: Los Angeles – UK

  Return your car before leaving Los Angeles for your homebound flight.
